Clinical Pharmacist II Acute Internal Medicine Focus

About this role

In the Clinical Pharmacist II Acute Care Internal Medicine position, the pharmacist combines clinical support with the preparation and dispensing of medications prescribed to acute care patients. The role also involves maintaining medication administration processes, reviewing drug use for appropriateness, assisting with education for nurses and staff, and overseeing pharmacy technicians.

Essential Job Function:
• Interprets and follows physician instructions to deliver the correct care to the correct patient.
• Oversees and verifies prescription order entry, packaging and dispensing.
• Provides and monitors pharmacy driven protocols, drug utilization and medication-related information to healthcare professionals, patients and the public.
• Supervises pharmacy technicians.
• Precepts students.
• Collaborates with healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to optimize medication therapy and ensure patient safety.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Education:
• Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharmacy.

Experience:
• Required: 3 years

Licensure/Certification/Listing:
• Required: Registered Pharmacist in NC within 60 days of hire. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
