Financial Analyst

About this role

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join an organization in Belmont, North Carolina, in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position will play an important role in supporting daily accounting operations, with a focus on maintaining accurate financial records and helping keep core processes running smoothly. The ideal candidate is comfortable working on site, enjoys a hands-on accounting role, and can contribute across transactional accounting and month-end activities.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting tasks by processing accounts payable and accounts receivable activities with accuracy and timeliness.

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain a complete and reliable general ledger.

• Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts to ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.

• Support month-end close by organizing schedules, reviewing account activity, and assisting with closing entries.

• Use Blackbaud Financial Edge to record transactions, track accounting activity, and generate needed financial information.

• Assist with tax-related accounting support, including work tied to corporate tax and sales tax documentation as needed.

• Review financial data for discrepancies and follow up on outstanding items to help maintain clean accounting records.

• Collaborate with the accounting team to provide coverage for ongoing operational needs within the college’s finance function.

Qualifications:
• Experience in a Staff Accountant or entry-level Accountant role supporting day-to-day accounting operations.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations.
• Ability to prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close processes.
• Experience completing bank reconciliations and resolving reconciling items efficiently.
• Familiarity with Blackbaud Financial Edge or comparable accounting software.
• Understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and related accounting support responsibilities.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively in an on-site environment.

Compensation
$30.00-$35.00 Hourly
