Prior Landlord-Tenant experience is not required. A general understanding of Maryland civil litigation, a positive attitude, and an eagerness to learn are most important. The role is well suited for someone who is responsive, detail-oriented, comfortable managing recurring deadlines, and willing to handle both legal and hands-on administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Landlord-Tenant Case Support

• Prepare, finalize, and coordinate service of legal notices in accordance with lease requirements, attorney direction, and applicable procedures.
• Prepare and track Warrants of Restitution and related eviction matters; communicate with property managers, courts, process servers, and sheriff's offices regarding status and scheduling.
• Maintain detailed matter and eviction tracking lists, monitor deadlines and case status, and follow up promptly on outstanding items.
• Prepare court dockets, exhibits, hearing materials, and other documents needed for court appearances.
• Calendar court dates, filing deadlines, eviction dates, and other critical events on the firm calendar.
• Assist attorneys with case preparation and communicate with property managers regarding hearings, required documents, witnesses, and next steps.

Client Service and Communication
• Serve as a regular point of contact for property management clients, providing timely and professional updates and obtaining the information needed to move matters forward.
• Communicate professionally with tenants, court personnel, sheriff's offices, process servers, and other outside parties.
• Draft routine correspondence and respond to client and attorney requests promptly and accurately.
• Build a practical understanding of each client's properties, procedures, and reporting needs.

Administrative and Team Support
• Open and organize new matters; maintain accurate electronic and paper files; and assist with matter closing procedures.
• Prepare case-opening materials, check requests, expense reports, certified mail, FedEx packages, and other routine administrative documents.
• Copy, scan, print, assemble, label, file, and mail pleadings, notices, exhibits, and service packets.
• Enter attorney time and assist with billing-related questions or matter information as needed.
• Travel occasionally to courts, client properties, or other local locations as needed.
• Provide backup support to the Landlord-Tenant team and assist with other firm administrative needs when necessary.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience
• Two or more years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal administrative professional is preferred.
• General familiarity with Maryland civil litigation, court procedures, and litigation support is preferred; prior Landlord-Tenant experience is welcome but not required.
• Experience working with property management companies, high-volume court filings, evictions, or civil litigation is a plus.
• Experience with MDEC, PACER, or other e-filing systems is helpful.
• Law firm experience and a paralegal certificate or relevant college degree are preferred, but an equivalent combination of education and practical experience will be considered.

Skills and Work Style

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a consistently professional, client-service-oriented approach.
• Reliability, sound judgment, and strong follow-through.
